To make a part of a story sad, develop deep emotional connections between characters and readers. Introduce tragic events, like loss or heartbreak. Use descriptive language to evoke feelings of despair. Show vulnerability in characters, allowing readers to empathize. Foreshadow sad events and create a sense of impending doom. Incorporate symbolism that represents grief. Balance sadness with moments of hope or resolution.
