SUMMONING ALL PIXEL ARTISTS!!!

Knowing BrickPlanet, I'm 100% sure you guys will not be of any help but whatever, I'm so desperate for feedback, I might as well jump right through the tightest hoops.

So, I've been working on this pixel art for quite some time now for a manga that a friend of mine is working on.

The character in the middle is a character called Sadie (not the MC btw), a 12 yr old ghost with an obsession for bugs.

I structured it as a bonus round on an NES game.

I'm currently in a 'do-i-leave-it-at-that-or-do-i-add-more-stuff' phase. Should I do smth with the background? Maybe add more bugs? Or do I simply leave it as it is?

I'm definitely not experienced with pixel art, but I sure do know NES games.

1. The bushes don't blend in well with the overall environment; Change the bushes' brown outline to a black one.

2. the color palette is too dark for an NES game, I suggest using brighter colors.

3. the black scoreboard is unnecessarily big; Move The score counter next to the time counter, then shrink the black bar to half its size. Changing the font to match the Classic NES font won't hurt either.

(thinking about it, the first two suggestions are pretty unnecessary since it'll be in monochrome anyway; oops.)

Appreciate the feedback, you're one of the few to provide suggestions out of the five forum boards I've reposted this.

The 'bushes' are supposed to be grass. Someone else on a different forum pointed out the grass as well, so I guess I gotta start with that one.

As for the HUD, yea, I do agree it's unnecessarily long, I believe it will be a bit more readable if I structure it the way you proposed.

An irl friend of mine suggested I added a few platforms to make it more presentable as a videogame, what do you think?
