OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT FROM BRICKPLANET
Dear BrickPlanet Community,
We are excited to announce that as of April 1st, 2025, BrickPlanet has been acquired by Amazon for $3.8 billion in cash. After careful consideration, we've decided this partnership represents the best path forward for our platform and community.
Amazon will be integrating BrickPlanet into its gaming division under the new name "Amazon Blocks." Jeff Bezos personally oversaw the acquisition, stating: "We've always admired BrickPlanet's commitment to allowing users to build virtual worlds block by block. It's basically what I've been doing with Amazon, except instead of blocks, I used the souls of workers."
The acquisition includes several immediate changes to enhance your experience:
All BrickPlanet players will now receive their virtual blocks through Amazon Prime delivery, with non-Prime members experiencing mysterious "shipping delays" when attempting to place blocks
The BrickPlanet marketplace will implement a "1-Click Buy" button that occasionally purchases random household items from Amazon
All avatar customization will require subscription to "BrickPrime+" at $14.99/month
Our founder Isaac celebrated this milestone by building a life-size replica of himself out of blocks, then immediately destroying it while shouting "I'M RICH! I'M FINALLY RICH!"
We're also pleased to share that Alexa will be integrated into the platform, allowing her to randomly delete player creations while saying, "I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch that."
